Kimbo Slice And Paul Daley Cut From UFC

May 10, 2010 by danielson

Kimbo Slice has been diced out of the UFC.

Ultimate Fighting Championship President Dana White confirmed to the Los Angeles Times that the popular MMA fighter was cut by the organization. The news comes a day after Slice lost in a second-round TKO to former NFL lineman Matt Mitrione at UFC 113.

The move wasn’t a surprise after remarks from White following the bout on Saturday night.

“That’s probably Kimbo’s last fight in the UFC,” White said. “I got nothing but respect for him.”

Slice, whose real name is Kevin Ferguson, first gained attention when clips of him street fighting hit the Internet. He was signed by EliteXC in 2007 and fought for the organization until it declared bankrupcy in 2008.

He also made an appearance on UFC’s “The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweight” reality show.

Slice won in his debut with the UFC at The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights Finale in a 215 lb. catchweight battle against Houston Alexander. His second UFC fight was Saturday’s loss to Mitrione. It was his first — and only — heavyweight fight in the UFC.

Following a post-fight cheap shot that tagged opponent Josh Koscheck, welterweight Paul Daley will never fight in the Ultimate Fighting Championship again.

That’s the word from UFC president Dana White, who condemned the veteran fighter’s actions following the pay-per-view fight.

In Saturday’s UFC 113 co-main event at Montreal’s Bell Centre, Daley threw a post-fight punch after losing a unanimous decision to Koscheck.

The loss cost Daley a coaching spot on “The Ultimate Fighter 12″ and a title shot with champion Georges St-Pierre.

The late blow, however, cost him any shot at a future in the UFC.

“He’s done,” White said after the event. “I don’t give a [expletive] if he’s the best 170-pounder in the world. He’ll never come back here again.

“There’s no excuse for that. These guys are professional athletes. You don’t ever hit a guy blatantly after the bell like that, whether you’re frustrated or not. It was probably one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen because he is a talented guy, and he is one of the best 170-pounders in the world.”

Logan Stanton And Natasha Wicks Fired As UFC Ring Girls

February 28, 2010 by danielson

logan3.jpg

I did not watch the last couple PPV televised, only afterwards, so I didn’t notice the lack of the 2 former UFC beauties. There is a new ring girl that has replaced them, and of course the always lovely Arianny, but personally I am missing these two. The full details are below courtesy of CagePotato.com

natasha-wicks-003

Some tragic news coming in from MMA Madness:

MMAMADNESS.com has learned that both Natasha Wicks and Logan Stanton have been cut from the UFC as ring girls. Stanton’s contract expired after UFC 107 and the UFC chose not to renew it. Wicks was cut before the expiration of her contract. Ring girl Arianny Celeste will remain on with the organization; as her contract has been recently renegotiated- explaining her absence from UFC 107.
According to sources, there will be only two ring girls from this point forward. Though it has not been officially announced, our insiders are being told Chandella Powell, a former playmate, will be the newest ring girl. [Ed. note: We can't find many good pics of Ms. Powell, but apparently she's second from the left in this photo.] It has yet to be released when Ms. Powell will start her official ring girl duties, though UFC 108 would be the obvious choice.

Well this blows. With no other information to work off of at this time, we’ll just assume that Arianny became jealous that her alpha-chick status was being threatened by the two newcomers, and went into them-or-me mode during contract negotiations. I know it’s not very responsible to make up rumors out of whole cloth, but goddammnit, Logan and Natasha are gone — gone, you guys — and the last thing I’m feeling right now is responsible. More to come; for now, let’s remember the good times…
