Outside The Expo

Well, Day 2 of my trip started off about the same as Day 1, as I did not have a night of uniterrupted sleep again. On the first day, this was a result of a plane delay as well as having to get up extra early from my layover in Minnesota so I could make my early flight to get to Vegas in time for the Expo yesterday. Last night was a little different. At about 4 am, the fire alarm went off in the hotel waking everyone in the building up. It is unclear if it was an electrical malfunction or if some drunken fool pulled the alarm, but one thing I can tell you is that it wasn’t a real fire, because I didn’t burn up. Instead I went back to sleep, or at least tried to because it took about 30 minutes before they actually were able to turn the alarm off. :(

My buddy Kalif and I decided to get to the Expo right in the beginning at 10 am, so we could jump in the line early and try to get some autographs from some of the stars at the UFC Booth, including Forrest Griffin and Logan Stanton to name a few. Unfortunately, by time we got in line we were told the wait was 4 hours. Not only would we have missed the stars we wanted to see, but I would have also missed out on the Eddie Bravo seminar I had paid for that afternoon. So we bailed from that line, but we were able to jump in the short line over at the CageFighter booth, and get an autograph from Rampage. I happened to be wearing my Cage Fighter shorts at the time, and a bunch of the guys said somethign about it. In fact, I even met the guy who designed the shorts, which was cool. I meant to tell him that they need to make more shorts in those styles though, but I forgot. Maybe I’ll email him, along with the review I did on those shorts.

After that I went to the Eddie Bravo Seminar, while Kalif roamed around and got some more autographs, took some more blurry picures :) and watched some of the Grappling tournament hosted by Grapplers Quest. I am going to discuss the Eddie Bravo Seminar in a seperate post, which will be a little more of a review fashion. One cool thing was the Vinny from Season 8 of the Ultimate Fighter was actually taking the seminar with us. I got to meet him and got a photo with him as well. You can check it out at the Photos page.

We wandered around a bit more, and I got to check out some vendors and talk to some different guys including Sean from Get Rung Mats, who will be sending me some Puzzle Mats for me to review for all you readers out there. I also met a guy from The Competitive Edge who showed me this pretty cool scale where I can enter some information and it will read my body chemistry through my feet, and determine not only my body weight, but my body fat percentage, body water rate and metabolic burn rate. I am definitely considering purchasing this product, as it was pretty cool.

As I was heading out of the expo, I saw a short line and jumped in it. It ended up being for Nogueira. I got his autograph and a cool photo with him as well. As we were leaving the Expo from there, a cute girl from Title MMA came up started flirting with Kalif. That prompted him to not only get a photo with her, but also to go around and start getting photos with a bunch of the hot girls from the show. I’ll insert some into this post when they are up in my photos section.

After that we pretty much ended up leaving the Expo and headed out to find a place to got watch UFC 100. I am sure Blair will have a recap of UFC 100 up soon, but I am going to write a little something up as well. One thing I do want to say now is that the Henderson knockout of Bisping was the Knockout of the Year.

By the way, Kalif headed home now, and I am off to Master Toddy’s dorms. I am not sure if there is wireless Internet there, so the rest of my posts may come when I get back from my trip. I am also headed to Wanderlei Silva’s gym today for a Seminar at 3pm, and then I hope to go to Xtreme Courture on Monday night depending on what time my session at Master Toddy’s ends, and how tired I am. Check back soon.
